Inspiring Youth Achievement

The INSPYA “Inspiring Youth Achievement” mentoring programme trains young people aged 16-25 to mentor pupils who have behavioural issues and are on the verge of being excluded from school.

The INSPYA “Inspiring Youth Achievement” mentoring programme trains young people aged 16-25 to mentor pupils who have behavioural issues and are on the verge of being excluded from school. They used a grant from the Alec Dickson Trust to create training materials and fund CRB checks for volunteers, that enabled them to grow the programme from 5 mentors in their first year to more than 20 in their second.

INSPYA work with two schools and have seen great success with their programme. The mentors provide support and guidance to help pupils build skills and confidence. Feedback from pupils and their teachers has been really positive, and has indicated that the youth mentors are making a measurable difference to pupils’ behaviour and ability to succeed at school.

In turn, the youth mentors are given access to professional mentors who provide them with guidance and support about entering the world of work.

We’re really pleased to have been able to help the INSPYA programme to grow.
