The aim of the project was for volunteers to work closely with the Directors, Shamila Younas and Nargis Khan, to plan, market, and deliver a series of community-focused projects. Volunteers were encouraged to brainstorm ideas, develop project plans, and work as a team to bring these ideas to life. Initial concepts included hosting a quiz night, supporting the local food kitchen, organising a bake-off competition, and planning a pamper and cinema night. These activities were designed to build teamwork, develop practical skills, and strengthen community engagement.

Throughout the project, volunteers assisted with a wide variety of daily tasks, including marketing, event set-up and management, social media content creation, administrative duties, and direct interaction with community members. This holistic involvement allowed volunteers to gain hands-on experience across different aspects of project delivery.

After careful planning and group deliberation, the volunteers successfully delivered a Sip and Paint event, bringing together young females from the community to express themselves creatively through art. This event was well received and helped inspire confidence, creativity, and social connection among participants.

Volunteers then worked alongside Shamila and Nargis to plan a trip to a local indoor climbing centre. They took responsibility for planning the logistics, advertising the trip, engaging participants, and ensuring smooth delivery on the day. This was a highly beneficial exercise, during which volunteers developed numerous skills, including:

  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Communication and customer service
  • Event planning and organisation
  • Time management
  • Marketing and social media promotion
  • Risk awareness and problem-solving
  • Leadership and initiative

To support fundraising for the trip, the volunteers also organised a community bake sale, where they baked and sold cakes. This activity not only helped generate funds but also taught volunteers valuable skills in budgeting, financial handling, and community engagement.

Overall, the project has been highly successful in meeting its aims. Volunteers demonstrated growth, commitment, and creativity while contributing meaningful activities for the local community. The experience has empowered the young people involved and strengthened the organisation’s capacity to deliver positive community-based initiatives.
